September 3, 200422 yr Me Sherco 290 has a habit of dripping oil out of the carb overflow. When I took it for a spin around the local quarry after a while it stopped but now when I start it up and ride around the drive its started again. I don't know how much oil was put in as it was done by the dealer who sold it too me after he had replaced the piston and got the barrel relined. Should I be concerned Peter
September 3, 200422 yr sounds like gearbox oil mate , the carb cant drip oil , after a refill they can drop a little.

September 3, 200422 yr if its the long black tube its the gearbox breather. if its just been filled its quite normal so dont worry
September 3, 200422 yr I would warm the bike up and drain the oil mesure what you get out just to see how much was in there, take out the filler plug at the same time you take the drain bolt out [lets it drain a bit faster] then refill with 450cc of the oil you use. The breather pipe needs to do just that but can't when its full of oil, so remove that and clean also. Now you know it's got the correct amount of oil and can breath
September 3, 200422 yr Author Hmm, I think I'll do as you suggested Ishy as its anoying the wife having spots of oil on the drive. Peter
