I am reconditioning my Cub Head, i have everything out of head, i need to clean the exhaust port, get rid of carbon etc. is there any sure fire method of cleaning, i.e. costic soda, or is it just petrol and elbow grease

Thicker stuff can be carefully scraped and wire brushed, Carb spray isn't too bad for final cleaning.

I use a very fine burr in a drill to remove the carbon, when you see alloy move on.

soak in diesel for 24hrs before hand. the cleaning agent of the gods..

Just cleaned a grotty Ariel Leader Alloy hub with Cillit Bang, Both types with wire wool and albo? grease.

Two hours later the hub is like new.

PS NO Connection with Reckitt Benckiser.
