August 22, 200818 yr I am running a semi-synthetic 10/40W in my RS250TA and suffering clutch judder and a very 'on- off' clutch when the engine is hot. Does anyone else have these problems and is there another oil that will make a difference?
August 22, 200818 yr A common mod on the tlr engine is to run a CR 80 clutch. I have one in my 200 it was there when i bought it and I don't suffer the judder that I did on a Tlr I owned a while back. Whether it is the same clutch in a RS I don't know, I think Tlr 250s are worse so maybe it is ???
August 23, 200818 yr Author Thanks Bo Drinker, is that just the friction plates from a CR80 or the whole assembly? I have some Barnett Kevlar plates coming from the States but I am sure the correct oil must play it's part too. I had a brand new Beta 200 and the clutch was dreadful until I used Castrol SLX 0/30W. August 23, 200818 yr Friction plates and springs I believe. I am using a bog std 10 40 Silkolene oil and all seems well with it.
August 23, 200818 yr I found that using semi-synthetic oil gave a slightly smoother clutch than full synthetic. However the best bet is to fit a different clutch as Bo said, from a CR80, or an RTL or i think from a CG125 too.
August 27, 200818 yr hey i use denicol 15-50 for wet clutch engines, (tlr 250 stock clutch) with normal "modern car engine oil" the clutch is not that smooth regards bob
