How did these Japanese ladies get so great - so fast, and out of now where?

And also i think that some indepth pics of the jp team would not go a miss. Purely out of trials curiosity of course!! Ahem

Takumi Narita consistently scoring world championship points since the early nineties, then Ken'ichi Kuroyama came along, now Fuji takes the world crown.

Japan has found it can produce champions and the bikes for them to ride.

large population in a small area and the willingness to work hard and focus, I can soon see them dominating the sport.

Also, trials requires little land and that land it does use is generally not very good for development, so trials is a natural sport for the Japanese.

I'm not at all suprised by the rise of Japan as a trials nation.
