Hi

Would anybody have an idea as to why my clutch is playing up. Its a 2000 model Sherco 2.9. When the engine is cold the clutch works just fine, but after about 10mins the egine starts to run away and the clutch slips.

We changed the oil and that helped but again only for 10 mins. We have not adjusted the clutch in any way (yet)

Does anybody have any (constructive...Stu!) ideas

If the feel is otherwise normal, no problem with the master/slave hydroulics, then remove the cover and inspect for weak springs, worn plates or other broken parts, it only takes a few minutes!

Just lay the bike on it's side and remove the four screws! Then remove the six that hold the clutch plate and get a piece if wire or a hook tool and remove the plates!

i used to have a draggin clutch on ma mont i used to now and then take the plates out and clean them and put abit of new oil on them(remember which order they came out of tho or have a manual)

Have you checked for free play at the master cylinder & the clutch lever ?

I used to have this problem on my old '01 SHERCO 250, (which was well used and abbused) i also found that by taking the plates and and de-glazing them and putting them back in the correct order sorted out this little problem and returned the clutch to its original performance and so gave me many more months of happy trialsin'

But if the springs are worn you may have to replace them (and/or clutch plates but i duno!)

On the old wet clutches (Nortons, etc), bead blasting the steels works great.
