Whats The Difference?

Just a Quickee!

Whats the difference between a keihin carb and a factory fitted Dellorto carb?

I have a 05 sherco 290. if i put the keihin carb in what difference will it make?

Thanks, Sherco Ben

The Dellorto is a 26mm standard carb for most bikes....

..To put it bluntly the Keihn is a 28mm? carb for experts....if you fit one the bike will lose some low-rev grunt at the expense of gaining mid/top end punch. I hear you can fine tune the Keihn more than the Dellorto but you are still looking at a lot of power.

I've only test ridden a couple of bikes fitted with a Keihn and even though the throttle response was nice and crisp there was just too much wallop for me. ;)

I wouldn't ride mine without one, they are that good!

I don't really agree with the comment that it losses low end grunt, in theory it should but in practise I think it gains low end as well, just because you can get it to run so much cleaner, the D shape slide is claimed to help the throttle response and I agree.

As the Keihin runs so clean it feels a lot smoother off the bottom end making it easier to ride if you can handle the power!
