I'm not sure what works best on a standard frame, but the Falcon units are pretty good, can be built to suit your length, damping and spring rate requirements.

I think they need a longer swinging arm to grip better and give more clearance for a 4.00 x 18 rear tyre. There's a few people that do a conversion - Ray Small at Cub Mods can help you.

The best ignition is to use PVL, requires the cases to be machines to suit - its also the most expensive. There are cheaper alternatives that will get you a reliable spark though - ditto above

Like any motor sport, its just a case of how much you want to spend.

Just finishing my own Cub project, the budget is blown to bits, think of a number double it and then add some more. Had to sell my modern bike to get it finished :banana:
