May 31, 200917 yr I had an early John Shirt MAJESTY 320 and that ran backwards in a section... once!!! Scared me witless. John reset the timing and it never ran backwards again... Unless you have a Harley and you accidentally selected reverse... P
May 31, 200917 yr Best to get the ignition timing checked, it may be too advanced, firing too early and sending the piston down instead of allowing it to rotate beyond TDC. Bye, PeterB.
June 1, 200917 yr I seem to recall someone experiencing this condition a long time back. I cannot recall if is was the coil/box or the stator that caused it. Obviously the coil/ box is the easiest to try first. Depending upon your location, a call to MRS may help firm up this info. Edited June 1, 200917 yr by copemech
June 1, 200917 yr Author i had a new stator fitted in september wonder if that is the problem i will give the shop a ring where i got it fitted from thanks josh
June 1, 200917 yr Rules state going backwards is a 5 Hope this helps, think your score at the next trial could be a high one
June 2, 200917 yr i had a new stator fitted in september wonder if that is the problem i will give the shop a ring where i got it fitted from thanks josh Short of learning to ride with your hands behind your back... suggest you check for a loose flywheel nut and/or a sheared flywheel key, and while you have the flywheel off check the position of the stator plate and timing mark.
