Sherco Swing Arm

Featured Replies

Hi there my son was out practising on Sunday in the snow & ice.

He has a 08 Sherco 125. When we got home I was washing his bike to find the swinging arm had snapped just in front of the rear brake anchor point on the right hand side. This was a clean brake no signs of discolouring at all. I was just wondering if any one else has had this problem & will it weld or is it best to get a replacement swing arm.

Ummmm, I have never seen one break, yet I can can not think of a reason the things could not be welded by a properly trained TIG welder using the the proper high strength filler rod. Best I can tell there is nothing special about the arm itself.

I rould recommend seeking a cretified aircraft welder if possible, or another specialty master welder.

Any chance of pictures?

Should be weldable though depending on the state of it, like Mark said, best off finding some kind of speciality welder to do the job!

Might still pay to ask Ryan Young for the price of a new one, I'd be a bit worried about using a welded one & it would drop your resale value by a large amount due to it being obvious

Sorry no pictures

Just had it welded buy a speciality welder who said it welded well so time will tell. Just as well I ride a sherco so John is back in the saddle for this weekend.

If you are in the UK give MRS a ring. My 07 frame was replaced (well outside its warrenty!!!!!) free of charge.

The swing arm is a major component and should last well over a year!!! same as the frame

It wont do any harm to ask anyway

I rang MRS on the 22nd & the reaction I got was tough.

Thats terrible, they cant build (sell) a swing arm that breaks in a year, its simply not fit for purpose in that case.

My dad had to give them the what-have-you down the phone after a simelar response.
