March 10, 201016 yr Hi all My ‘06 SY250 has a little clutch sticking problem at the beginning of a ride. Nothing big, but I could do without it. Has anyone here run ATF type F in their SY250 (Yamaha engine)? Any problems? Leaks? Less or more clutch sticking? I read someplace that Dextron ATF can cause clutch plate swelling…. but I don’t know if it is true.. anyone know? Edited March 10, 201016 yr by G520
March 10, 201016 yr I walk the bike about 200 yards to where I start her up and jump on. I pull the lever in and out a good few times whilst walking, and when I fire her up and jump on the clutch is fine......although I did put new oil in, about 8 hrs ago. I got the stuff that Birketts recommended, can't remember what type, will have a look later if needed.
March 10, 201016 yr on my old 04 beta i used to pull the cluth lever in and tie it back with an elastic band, just after a ride. next time i came to use it it was fine from cold.
March 10, 201016 yr I use Silkolene Light gear oil and change it every 10 hours or so. My clutch has always stuck after it has been stood for a while, but free's off after a few metres.
March 10, 201016 yr Hi - Birketts recommend Motul 5100 10W40 4T oil - Drain and add 650ml I've got mine to do this weekend so will let you know if there's a difference. At the mo it has PJ1 Clutch Tuner in and it's still a bit grabby cheers
March 10, 201016 yr Author Thanks guys. The clutch on my bike is not really a problem. After a few meters the clutch brakes free, and then works very well. Just like Pete described. I

I've leaned the bike over, I've left it to drain, I've undone the small bolt, still only 450. I don't know if it's me or if it's my bike but 650 would fill it way higher than the level hole. I change the oil after approx 10 hours. Pete
