May 9, 201016 yr Hi, I live in South Wales and bought a 1998 Gas Gas TX 270 to get me up the mountain to fly my paraglider. I am now having more fun riding the bike than flying my wing, would like to know if there are any trials clubs in south Wales. Thanks Andy
May 17, 201016 yr Hi Andy. Welcome. How do you get on carrying the wing on the bike? I paraglide too, but not sure I'd be able to stay on the bike with my kit. What sites do you fly? I've visited a few S.E. Wales sites, Fochriw, Abertysswg and Pandy, and it's a beautiful place to fly.
May 27, 201016 yr Author Hello CaptainSlackBladder and Welshoneder, Thank you for your reply. I live in the Rhondda Fach, and I tend to do my flying around Nant-y-moel, Treorchy, and the Rhigos. I do go to Fochriw, and Abertyswg, but not so often as I used to when I started around 10 years ago. Flown Pandy once only top to bottom. I can fly hills above my home, which are not registered sites, I have light weight harness/rucksack and reserve, and take off is only a 10 minute ride on the bike or around an hour if I fancy a walk, which is not so often these days. I find the the light weight kit easy enough to carry on short easy trips, but would not like to go very far. Unfortunately the big end went on my gasser last weekend, so in the process of stripping it down this week. Take Care Andy
May 28, 201016 yr Hi Andy sorry to hear about the bike. I've been considering some lightweight kit, but I'm not making enough use of the gear of got. I live near Brighton and belong to the southern club. We have the biggest membership list and the fewest number of sites. Mid-airs are almost run of the mill. I've done some flying in Austria and Italy, they don't know how lucky they are! Good luck with the rebuild. Paul.
May 31, 201016 yr Author Hi, Almost finished stripping down my bike. My favourite flying has been in Austria, with Kelly Farina in Mayrhofen, I have also been to Bassano, which was very good. Thanks Andy
May 31, 201016 yr hahaha, what a coincidence. That's where I've been too, with Kelly. I found his trips nicely challenging. Had some epic flying in Mayrhofen, loved the grub in Bassano. He's a good lad Kelly, but he can get a bit stressed.
