Ty80 Intermittent Spark

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just aquired a TY80 which between now and the 25th December needs to be up and running, and looking immaculate !

First problem is that it won't start. It has an intermittent spark. It will spark a couple of times, miss a couple, spark half a dozen, then miss again etc etc. The spark itself is very strong.

Another question on the choke. Should the choke lever stop both up and down ? The one I have will push down, but springs back up ?

Any help much appreciated - I'm sure this is the first of many posts !

cheers

John

Hi,

had same problem with spark, was a duff ht coil breaking down, afternoon before boys 1st comp too, easy cheapish fix, new coil.

Choke should stay down until flipped up.

Hope this helps,

Pete.

I had the same prob would spark then wouldn't go back the next morn still no spark, took fly wheel off cleaned points with sand paper sprayed everything with WD40 and it sorted it starts first time every time, try it well worth a go, good luck

My problem was identical to this, I changed the plug (despite the problem plug being brand new two weeks before the problem started). It started first kick after I changed the plug!
