Howdo guys.

I am trying to identify the make of a trials frame I have bought off Ebay some time ago.

I bought it as a "Cotton Trials" but after searching thro loads of images of Cottons I cannot find anything that matches it.

The frame is brazed at the joints, the engine cradle takes a 9e/32a Villiers and looks original apart from the footrests and back brake pedal.

Also can you tell me what type forks these are

Any help you can give will be appreciated.

My best guess would be Cotton or Sprite Scrambles (Motocross) ie not trials

The forks are MP.

Looks much like a Trials Cotton (Starmaker) to me. Should have leading link forks though not the MP teles that it has now.

Could be wrong usually am.

Front hub looks like Cotton too. (above still applies)

Thanks guys, I should add that it was road registered with a D plate, that makes it circa 66 I think, but whose to say it was registered at new.

I will look at older bikes with leading link forks to, maybe the jampots date it earlier

That's interesting, never thought of the cotton starmaker trials.

The 1966 'D' reg plate would be absolutely right for that as would the forks and hubs.

The MP forks were an optional extra from Cotton at the time.

A real rarity.

No, I have just checked, the starmaker trials frame was single downtube and

different in the midriff area.

The frame looks much more like the Cotton 'Cobra' Starmaker or Villiers 9E type engined scrambler which

was twin down tube. But, as they say, I could be wrong.

If you google www.odgie.com and open "me in the dirt" you will see a picture of a cotton trials bike that has a twin down tube and the rest of the frame looks like yours.

It says its a 1960 but the tank is from a later model I think.

I think I'm getting nearer now, thanks for pointing me in right direction with the leading link forks.

I had seen that earlier but dismissed it because of the forks.

We now think its this frame fitted with later forks.

I saw Odgie at the weekend on an OK Supreme 'rigid' cleaned a few as well.

And on closer inspection Sparks the D at the end of the reg is a B, trials and time have taken there toll on the paint.

What a good day, bike identified, original model images found and frame stripped ready for blasting/painting.
