Mono Clutch Slipping

I have a early ty 250 mono, the clutch is slipping when i have it adjusted so that it bites where it should, and the only way i can find to stop it slipping is to adjust the cable so it bites very close in which isnt ideal. Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done about this?
