Ty250 Shock Recharging

I'm currently in the middle of rebuilding a 92 TY250 pinkie, the bike has done hardly anything at all covering most of it's 490 miles on the road. So with this in mind, will the shock require recharging? Is the nitrogen just to keep the oil cool?, and will it have escaped over time?

I should have tried it before I split it but I'm unable to ride at the moment due to an injury. I have access to nitrogen up to the required (I believe) 170 psi but as they're is no schrader valve I can't charge it.

Is it possible to fit a schrader valve or will it be a case of sending it off to Falcon?

Any help appreciated.
