How much tape sealing of the airbox do people do?

I have heard of people applying electrical tape to keep the worst of the water out but as I'm very new have not seen what / how much is done.

    A strip of thin foam adhesive tape (approx 5mm thick) around top of air box to mate up with the mudgaurd does the trick.
