Cast Iron Or Steel Liner?

Featured Replies

Hi gents,

my front brake is in need of a new liner,

had a steel one put in the back last year, which is a massive impovment but some one i was talking to at a recent trial suggested cast iron was better for braking performance and only weight a cat wisker more.

What do you guys think?

Hello James, I am the same as you in that I had a steel liner put in my rear hub and it is great. I think a cast iron liner would end up a lot more expensive because it is a lot harder to work with. I am not sure though. there must be a reason no one has made cast brake hubs for bikes apart from the weight. Bully Lover.
