April 23, 200521 yr In the Fraser topic, which I didn't want to hijack, you posted the picture of the Honda replica built in Spain. Any idea whether they are reproducing those tank/seat units out there and if so who/where/cost. Do you also know what frame they have used? Doesn't look like a modified TL frame. Are they scratch building replica frames too?

April 26, 200521 yr Its nice looking kit but and its a big but the prices do appear rather on the high side eg 340 Euros for a TLR tank. Then again the quality is certainly there.

May 6, 200521 yr Hello Woody, Just back from the pre 65 Scotish.......What a trial.......What a trial...... I divers, My site is way out of date must up date it, got lots of new products Tanks are expensive things you need to spend a grand to make a good mould, to get the finished required, then painting and sealing the interior. But they can transforme an old nail into a nice bike. Iwould say that any Honda is worth a rebuild at the moment, don't want to be controversial but its about the only trials bike you might and I say might get your money back on parts bought........I know you are an Ossa man and I think they are going to be sought after very soon, but more of a cult following. You wont see many at a trial, but parts are very much sought after and prices are going up.......Did'nt we speak in Scotland, spoke to big John, bravo...... big John.......Did you see my mates 1930 ridgid Terrot....If that machine is not in the centre pages of next months Classic Bike i'm going to subsribe to 'womans own' next year..........What a trial........What a trial..... See you all next year..........

May 14, 200521 yr Author If anyone knows Jim Susans, then he may have some info on who made the tank units. Don't know whether he just supplied the frames or was involved in the complete assembly of the replicas. Maybe he still has the jig to reproduce the frames..... I'll also ask Mick Grant when I see him at the next ACU classic round in a few weeks and see if he has any ideas. It would be nice to be able to build a replica (of the replica...) of the 305 Honda but sourcing parts would be difficult. Tank/seat unit as already mentioned. Frame. Forks could be Marzocchi, as per Fantic etc. as Honda forks would be diificult to source. Then there's the engine. The 305 was based on the TL250 and those aren't exactly readily available, but that engine itself was derived from the original XL250S so maybe one of those could be adapted. Just leaves an exhaust to fabricate and some wheels and nearly done.... It's nice to have dreams.....
