February 17, 201313 yr Hey guys. I was just wondering which carb is the best on a 159? I have always used an Amal mk 2 just because that what my dad used. I know mikuni is now popular as is delloreto. Why are bings not so popular?
February 18, 201313 yr Ive got a Mikuni and its very good, but Im not convinced its much better than a good (i.e. new or not worn) amal to be honest...
February 18, 201313 yr Never tried an Amal or Mikuni but replaced the Bing on my 199A with an OKO and it is much better in terms of throttle response
February 19, 201313 yr hi i had a mikuni on my 199A ran ok but couldnt set it up proper so i got shout and got a bing had no problems since. my 198b as an amal and runs fine with it.
February 20, 201313 yr The main reason everybody changed carbs on the Bultacos was the Amals and Bings wore the slides and needles out very quickly. The Bing wears the slides out very quickly. The Bings were supposedly the better carb out of the two. I know they were more expensive for Bultaco to buy. The 250`s had Amals and the 350`s had the Bings on them. The Mikunis lasted much better.
