im dave from bristol 42

thought i would relive my youth and got a ty175

however i have few problems oil leak from external seal on gear shaft , been told need to replace internal seal how do i do this does engine need stripping or can i access by removing lh side casing

Hi, there is an oil seal on the linkage side, remove the small gear-change cover and the linkages and you should see the seal, how easy it is to remove I wouldn't like to say, you could try picking it out. Otherwise it will mean a strip down from the clutch side (not a bad job) removing the link bar and then pull it out. I would give it a try from the gear-change first.
