Featured Replies

 hi guys wondered if you can help with a couple of wee answers,

am putting on a new primary chain and the nut that holds on the fly wheel is wired i have always wired this nut but was wondering if i could replace it with a modern nylock nut ,would the atf affect it in any way?also what size is this nut?

second question, will i notice any difference in the bike with the new chain.(199a)

kind regards mur

hi not sure about the nut ive always used the original 1 when you say chain do you mean primary chain or the chain witch drivers the bike? if you mean the primary chain why are you changing it? you should be able to lift the primary chain with your finger about half a link. i onec had a problem with a 199A i had a few years ago the chain was slaping the inside of the fly wheel weight i was lucky it didnt do any damage they do stretch over a verry long time. as fare the nut id be on the safe side and just use the original 1 hope this helps.

hi bondy the chain from clutch to flywheel ,my tensioner wheel came off because the chain was slack and rubbed the spindle away it is 30+ years old and have been trialing( well trying to )a fair bit this year--- something had to give -- thanks for your reply murray

Replace chain with a new tensioner , and use a nut that can be wired for piece of mind ....And enjoy
