'04 290 Which Shock?

Featured Replies

I've a 2004 290. Looking to get the shock serviced as it doesn't have much damping. Is this rebuildable? Which shock is it? Olle or Sachs?

I would suspect it's a Olle, the Sachs out of my Jarvis rep looks the same except for the colour of the body which is quite a lot darker. Talk to Chris at splatshop about having it serviced/rebuilt, they will probably need to fit a valve to the body for regassing it

Not trying to be contrary but it looks like the shock on my 05 290 which I was told; 'is not a service-able item (regarding re-gassing)' when I inquired about it years ago, mine has too much damping me thinks, I know it's nothing to complain about but I do like to meddle with my set-up. Sorry if I'm muddying the waters.

Turns out the my and all 2004 290s had a sachs shock which i was able to get rebuilt. Mark at Race Suspension Services sorted it for me. New seal, bush and fitted a valve to allow regassing. It can now be rebuilt any time from now on. Very reasonably priced too. And it's working a treat.
