davdeborg Posted July 17, 2013 Report Share Posted July 17, 2013 had a mare today throttle cable broke when I took top off carb to remove cable noticed the needle clip has broken too. The clip fell off the needle as I took it out . bought new needle clip but have no Idea which slot to put it on . any ideas on which slot would be great as far as I know the carb and jets are standard . cheers aslo there is no real signs of any wear or marks where clip was so im a bit stumped what happens if I put it on top slot? middle slot ? bottom slot ? please help regards Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
woody Posted July 17, 2013 Report Share Posted July 17, 2013 Put it on the middle slot which is the normal position Top slot means the needle sits lower so lets less fuel through - weaker mixture in mid to high range Bottom slot means the needle sits higher so lets more fuel through - richer mixture in mid to high range You'll find that the needle clip being broken on an Amal is quite common but they still hold the needle when in situ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
