Hello can anybody tell me if the main engine casings from a 1974 ty250 will match up to a 1978 motor. The left main casing on mine has been attacked by some eejit and is full of holes around the magneto. All I can find are listed as 1974 models. Would like to keep the numbers matching!

It is unclear which are you calling the main engine casings. There are two inner casings and two outer casings.

Inner casings are also called crankcase halves or cankcases

The casing that covers the magneto is usually called the magneto cover while Yamaha call it the LH outer casing.

It's the crank case on the left that's destroyed, do you know if they are the same for the older models?
