I am a newbie looking for a bike. Need opinions on 2-stroke versus 4-stroke & bikes. I'm sure about any bike would work but doesn't hurt to get opinions. Thanks Much for any info.

Who ever you ask,everyone has different opinions,best thing to do if possible try both and different makes.

the best advice i was given was to buy a second hand bike, because if you don't take to it you don't lose much, if any money on a second hand bike up against a new one, also the modern trials bikes are very powerful so don't be tempted to go to big, i had a 250 and it's perfect for me.

As a general answer to you, I would say that as a beginner, unless you can find a Montesa 4T in decent condition, you would be better off with the best condition 2T of 250 flavor or less you can afford.

This is a fairly large window, but 250's can be hard to find even! Here!
