January 29, 201412 yr I was recently browsing all the results from the 2013 WTC and happened across the Manufacturer's table. I noticed that Yamaha finished the season with points. Honda did too but this could be due to there being a rider on a Honda branded Montesa so is understandable, but can anyone shed light on how Yamaha have managed to earn points? Taken from the FIM website: http://www.fim-live.com/en/sport/trial/classifications/ I would love to see what bike has awarded Yamaha points. Cheers
January 29, 201412 yr Couple of Japanese riders Kuroyama and Nozaki riding very trick looking Yamaha's in selected world round in Fuji Japan.
January 29, 201412 yr There' s a video somewhere with maybe the above riders at an arena type event.(try trial japan super step step step) The sound from there bikes is incredible. The motors are twin cam 250f enduro/mx units. Edited January 29, 201412 yr by breagh
January 29, 201412 yr Aye but the Yams not an old lawnmower engine. Anyway after that video. If I'm ever lucky enough to visit Japan mind me not to enter any club trials. Edited January 29, 201412 yr by breagh
January 29, 201412 yr It's the TYS250F, DOHC, 300cc Motor, Amazing bike, Got more power than just about anything. That you in the Orange top Alan ?
January 29, 201412 yr b40rt,if it is me then I'm not observing as I normally wear my Gestapo arm band. These Yams not only have mx/enduro derived engines, but archaic linkless rear suspension. Anyone want to tell me why other makes need all these bushes?
January 29, 201412 yr it sounds like a dragster, there are loads of videos of kuroyama on youtube. Id say its basically a 2008 scorpa 4 stroke breathed on though, probably using lots of titanium to get the weight down and magnesium also. Nice looking bike. As for the point about Honda, Ogawa etc rode the 4rt's badged as hondas.
January 30, 201412 yr I have to admit ... The Backflip was a cool (although useless) move ... And the YAMS are sweet !
January 30, 201412 yr nothing there would make me want to buy a Yamaha. Even though they are my favourite jap brand going back to my first purchase back in1972 and 73. Guess yam must think the same else they would make them for general release............
January 30, 201412 yr Author Some great vids, thanks for the info guys. They certainly do look suspiciously like the Scorpa 4t's, that's for sure. It was no secret Scorpa were using the Yamaha WR250F motor, so it sorta makes sense. That long motor sits odd in the chassis though, makes the tank look very high, as it did on the Scorpas. The backflip was a great bit of showboating, and was cool!
January 30, 201412 yr I would like to own a new Yamaha trials bike. wish they would make one. But the back flip just goes to show the modern trials is something that should be in the X-games and is even in the name that the FIM is using now X-Trials.
January 30, 201412 yr I've got one of the Scorpa versions. Nothing I enjoy more than sitting in a queue. telling all and sundry how rubbish there motors are compared to mine. Specially 4rt owners with there stone age single cam. Doesn' t matter if it rides like Shetland pony with piles. They don't know that. Edited January 30, 201412 yr by breagh
