Ty 250A Chain Oiler's "ball" On Swing Arm.

Featured Replies

What is the purpose of the ball (288-24684-00-00) under the cap on the left side of swing arm as seen on diagrams?

Thank you.

Wasn't a chain oiled, was it ?

The question is about an odd-looking item on the parts diagram that appears to fit into the cap of the chain oiler

Hi Patrick,

I think the ball is part of the cap to give it rigidity. Moreover, the cap model changes the following year and the ball disappears.

Hi - just bought and fitted the ribber plug as part of my TY250A restoration and also noted the small ball in the parts book - couldn't figure out its use so have not bothered to install - I don't think I will be using the chain oil filler system so its not an issue.

I think the ball prevents oil from escaping thru the vent hose when the bike falls on it's side...
