February 26, 201412 yr Hi Patrick,I think the ball is part of the cap to give it rigidity. Moreover, the cap model changes the following year and the ball disappears.

February 28, 201412 yr Hi - just bought and fitted the ribber plug as part of my TY250A restoration and also noted the small ball in the parts book - couldn't figure out its use so have not bothered to install - I don't think I will be using the chain oil filler system so its not an issue.
February 28, 201412 yr I think the ball prevents oil from escaping thru the vent hose when the bike falls on it's side...
