bowesey4
Hi all sorry to repeat a subject that has probably been covered many times. Same issue as most really... Want to remove the throttle lag and smooth out power delivery on oset 12.5. I see there are a number of different solutions available (none from oset which is surprising) has anyone used a torque control module from pico amps? http://www.automotive.picoamps.de/en/download_en.htm http://www.automotive.picoamps.de/doc/TorqueModuleOSET.pdf Seems a little steep at 129 plus vat. If anyone has any experience or recommendations I would really appreciate it Cheers Michael
gwhy
There are a couple of idea's in this thread http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/39515-snatcy-throttle-on-36v/ the picoamps device is sooooo over priced and it do not control torque... as there is no feed back from the motor current, all it does is induce a slow ramp up of throttle movement but ramps down real time with throttle. A device could be made from a hand full of components at a cost of no more than £5 ..or you can try a really basic solution that requires on 2 components ( a RC filter ) at a cost of maybe 50p and this may be just enough to smooth out that initial power but its something that you will have to experiment with .. If you require a true torque control throttle response then there is a off the self device that can be bought for around £100 which is still very expensive but will work 100% as a torque control. Some have solved this by replacing the stock controller with a kelly controller , but this only improves things because all it does is induce the slow throttle ramp up and instant ramp down ( same as the picoamp ) that is built into the controller. bowesey4
Thanks for this. What is the off the shelf solution you are referring to? I have very little experience with electrics so a plug and play solution would be ideal. Thanks
gwhy
http://www.ebikes.ca/shop/ebike-parts/cycle-analysts.html , It is not 100% plug and play for the oset .. you will have to swap out the fitted plugs on the ca to the same type on your throttle and you will also have to install a shunt into the main wiring on your bike, but this is straight forward.. there are a lot of functions on the ca that you may not want to use but the main connections that need to be made are throttle in/out,shunt and power. There are a couple of places that sell these in the uk for around 120 mark with the shunt. You will need at least a version 2.3 to get torque control options. gwhy
Oh I forgot, there is also something called a throttle tamer that is very tunable and I dont think the cost is to bad, the down side is the guy that makes them dont have a web site and makes them in small production runs ( I think the price is around £30 ) its not a true torque control but it will do exactly the same thing as the picoamps device at a fraction of the price. if you want more info drop me a pm and I will give you the details on how tocontact the guy. Edit: the throttle tamer is referenced in this thread http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/44194-full-sized-e-trials/page-4?hl=%2Bthrottle+%2Btamer#entry339163 about halve way down the page. gwhy
The throttle tamers are $45 delivered international and $40 delivered stateside, I now have the contact details of the seller if anyone would like the contact details then please PM me. The throttle tamers allow adjustment of throttle resolution and up ramp speed and a includes a glitch filter. Edit: The throttle tamers are not my product and I don't sell them.
