Timing A Ty175 With A Strobe

is it possible to check/set the ignition timing using a strobe? If so, what should the advance be in degrees?

    If you google 'ty175 strobe' you'll find instructions on how to set electronic timing with a strobe, they give a measurement of 28mm (on flywheel) BTDC or 22 degrees BTDC as full advance.

    I've been told 1.8mm equates to 20-22mm before TDC on the rotors surface. A bit of maths indicates this will be 17.6-19.4 degrees BTDC.

    The points gap had been a bit large and the strobe said 21 degrees. I've reduced the points gap and now it is showing 18 degrees. The engine is noticeably crisper now.
