May 29, 201412 yr Hi Nigel, You must warm the alloy hub before removing the bearings or you will drag alloy from the bearing housings when the bearing's are removed, this will wreck the hubs. A heat gun is probably the best thing to warm the hubs with but get them warm enough first then a gentle push from the opposite side using a drift which has a smaller diameter than the wheel spindle (less than 12mm) so that you can wriggle the spacer tube to one side. Brute force is not the way here. Good luck please let us know how it goes.
June 8, 201412 yr Author I have had a go.......all that I can recommend is that DON`T put them in the oven to warm them up!! Well, you can do but don`t use the wifes best oven gloves to take them out. Especially if the paint hasn`t hardened properly and comes off on the said oven gloves. I`m waiting to see if the divorce papers are in the post!! I`m going to attempt the heat gun sometime this week. I will keep you updated on both the bearing removal front and the divorce one
