July 14, 201412 yr What with the low pressures we have in our trials tires, is it best to store the bikes sitting atop a center stand so the weight is off the tires? What do yo folks do?

July 14, 201412 yr You are wasting your time unless it is for an extended period. I rode a TY175 around this weekend ( After my Gasser broke). It just came out of a 25 year storage in a nice dry cool barn. The Dunlop 2 plies were made April of 1985. They are a little hard, no cracks and still have the tits on the tire.
July 14, 201412 yr I would be inclined to agree with lineaway regarding trials tyres. Pirelli Sandcross and some Dunlop road bike tyres can develop bad cracks after being left soft just over winter, but i have also see tyres including Dunlops still fine after well over 20 years in the same storage conditions.
July 14, 201412 yr I store my bikes on a stand because this takes the pressure off everything, tires, springs, fork and shock seals. Plus it takes less space in the garage (allowing more bikes and parts). If you have the stands, why not use them? Edited July 14, 201412 yr by thats_a_five
