September 8, 201411 yr Hi everyone Im new to trials and have just got myself a Cota 310 and has been respoked with stainless spokes and i think the rear wheel offset is wrong as the chain adjusters are about 4 clicks different to align wheel in swingarm.I will do a tyres off wheel alignment to confirm. My Question is what is the correct offset for this model.Kind regards Chris
September 8, 201411 yr Unless the dish is so far out that you are having to put the wheel in squint to avoid the tyre rubbing the swingarm then the offset is not the problem. Trials bikes, unlike road bikes, are not necessarily designed to have the wheels running on a common centreline. No matter what the offset the wheels would run parallel when so set. That said, build quality being what it is, it can be necessary to have differing "clicks" but usually only by one or two. If you sight along the chain then you can tell when the sprockets are in line which should mean the wheels are in line, but not necessarily. For trials I'd say the chain alignment is more important than a small difference in wheel alignment (how often do you have the wheels in line in a section?). You may need to find a compromise position between chain and wheel alignment.
September 8, 201411 yr Author Hi Thanks for that. The chain is in perfect alignment when adjusters are set the same with good chain tension. The wheel isn't.The wheels have been stripped and respoked. The rear wheel has a factory offset and i can see visually it is off to the left so i think its way out.I need that offset to set it up properly.Cheers
