Tyres !

Featured Replies

Ok. Possibly been covered before but can't see definitive answer so apoligies for asking or if I can be pointed to link, thanks.

What tyres can be used legitimately on a pre 65 that may/may not be rolled up for scrutineering in kinlochleven next May ?

Don’t think you are allowed tubeless, but I think quite a few use them!

Thanks. Not really interested in what is not allowed but can possibly get away with. Just need to know what is permitted so I can plan ahead if needed

:agreed: cutting of the tread not allowed the ACU handbook is quite clear on tyres and what is and what is not allowed. As tyres are THE most important part you will fit on your bike it is important you get it right and that it's eligable. BTW Kinlochleven is no different to any other trial and if you think the only scrutineering takes place at the start then you are most definitely deluded.

Why so evasive you must have a reason for asking.

The only TRIALS tyres NOT allowed are tyres without tubes. I presumed you are going to fit a trials tyre?

Maybe you were thinking of a motocross or ice speedway tyre with some nice metal spikes?

Sorry to disappoint, no hidden motive other that wanting to do the right thing. It will be standard tubed, trials tyres being used. Thanks for the replies guys.

If thats the case a lot of people prefer IRC rear and Michelin front.

:agreed:

Yes, that’s the setup I have and it works very well

There is a minimum chance of snow at the time of the year, and then it works perfect.Pirelli, bet tyre in the snow.
