Another Ossa Question Help Please

Featured Replies

hi, our ossa 1975 250 mar has got a silver sammy miller exhuast on. it makes a right racket. very poppy and loud compared to our 348 mont. can you get an original one? would this be better? or any after market one?

mine has an MCS universal two stroke muffler with one side flattened a bit to clear the tyre. It is not particularly quiet either

its just a loud bang bang crackly noise from the ossa, the montesa has standard exhuast completly original low use bike. i know old bikes are not quiet as bikes go but its abnormaly loud.

Maybe it would help you work it out if you listened to an OSSA with a standard muffler

Both the 348 and the OSSA are old bikes, but the standard 348 is a quiet old bike and the standard OSSA MAR is a noisy old bike

Cleaning and repacking silencer likely to help noise and performance if you can find a way of opening up and resealing the silencer.

The original Mk2 exhaust was a primitive expansion chamber with a steel bomb shaped tail silencer with a bayonet QD fitting and was very quiet for its day. Try running without the tail silencer, as per the Mk1, and you'll find out what a noisy bike is really like. I assume it's just the Miller tail silencer you have so an original tail silencer would fit but the chances of getting one are slim though I daresay there are a few lying under workbenches.
