November 17, 201411 yr 2012 290 Sherco's return spring for shifter seems broken. Does it require splitting engine case for repair? Could someone give a description for repair and parts needed? Thank You. Sam
November 17, 201411 yr Remove primary drive case and clutch. The spring is at the bottom left hand side. Remove the gear leaver and clan the shaft then push it through so it comes out of the primary drive side of engine. Fit new spring and refit shaft making sure spring legs correctly engage on aluminium lug on crankcase. Make sure you find all the old spring. usually just one leg breaks off where it is bent tightly. You will need a clutch centre holding tool to stop it rotating whist you undo the centre nut. Edited November 17, 201411 yr by dadof2

November 17, 201411 yr Sam, If you do this can you take a photo of the offending area so I know what I am looking for! My gear lever sticks in the up position so I'm guessing its the same issue. Andy
