August 31, 200520 yr Hello everyone, I have just bought a ty250 mono shock and wondered if any one could help me identify the year of manufacture? I have engine and frame numbered(which match)if these will help id it. Thanks in advance Chunky
August 31, 200520 yr Author oops forgot to list the frame and engine numbers. 59n 000989. as far as i can work out i think its a 1984 hence the lowness of the numbers. any help would be appreciated thanks chunky
September 3, 200520 yr Author hope this helps, i think the bike has had a disc brake conversion done.see next pic/post cheers
September 4, 200520 yr Chunky, If the red frame is original colour I would be guessing it a 1984 or 1985 model which would be called a TY250N here. I see the wheel rims are different colours. I suspect the rear wheel with gold rim is original and the non-standard front wheel has been fitted as part of the disc brake conversion. I don't know what bike the fuel tank is from. David
September 4, 200520 yr I think feetupfun is right, it looks like a 83/84 N or maybe an S. The tank appears to be from a SWM and the seat looks to have been butchered to accept the tank. The front wheel is a "Shirty" disc conversion, which explains the different coloured rim. Edited September 4, 200520 yr by Hughesy
September 12, 200520 yr Hi Chunky it is a 1985 model TY250N which originally came with lights & indicators/mirrors etc. Shirty impoted a lot of them direct as he couldn't get hold of enough bikes from Yamaha John Trail & Trials UK
