January 23, 201511 yr Anybody have the chain fall off and break the rear case boss that the mag cover screws onto? Am I better off cutting off that lug on the left center case before that happens ? Or is a case saver plate the way to go? Thanks, Jeff Edited January 23, 201511 yr by jefgil123
January 23, 201511 yr The case saver plates don't always work, the chain can come round the sproket in 2 layers and exert so much force it rips the plate mount out of the top of the gearbox. Fortunately the crankcase is weldable. What seems to be best is an extended swinging arm protector that "peels" the chain off the sprocket.
January 23, 201511 yr Author Do you mean, to keep the chain running back and out, towards the chain tensionser arm and out the back ? I can visualize that then the chain won't wind up, and around the sprocket. Thanks, Jeff
