Hi I'm rob looking to get into trials to improve enduro skills, ideally looking for a gas gas 250 or a sherco 2.9 but don't really know what I'm look for as I've never rode a trials bike before also so there seem to be a complete lack of trials bike in my neck of the woods. Any help or advice would be appreciated

Hi Rob,I've done MX/Enduros for 25+yrs ( too many high speed crashes / breakages + cost ) and am now getting into trials. There is one on every week locally, £15-20 to enter,they are rarely cancelled due to weather conditions and it teaches you real bike skills.I did a day at Tricks in the sticks in Sandhurst which was VERY helpful with the basics and there are a few Beginners and Wobblers trials in the south east advertised on the NKTC website which are no pressure days to see if you like it / practice . My old bike,a very low mileage 2005 Gas Gas txt 300 is for sale in Offroad Southeast in High Halden if you want to look at something locally,I've just bought a new one as I am hooked !

You are pretty lucky, there's plenty of life in the trials in Kent.

Both East Kent and North Kent run Combines and there are plenty of clubs.

The bigger clubs run monthly club trials, wobblers events, combines events and SE events, so there's usually something local each weekend.

Bexleyheath also run "intro days" with a couple of club bikes to try.

Bikes do change hands between club members and can be found at some events or by asking around.

Also Ebay and local dealers (which are often overlooked due to prices, but they do offer lots of advice and help)

Everyone has there thoughts what bike and each usually stick to what they like.

For a starter bike on a budget, buy on condition and the care that's been lavished rather than a make or model, an abused bike will rack up bills and spoil your enjoyment fairly quickly.

Riders that compete fairly regularly rather than ride every now and then on a bit of spare land, tend to make sure their bikes are in good order, so worth asking what they've been doing with it.

Once you're into the sport (and trying everyone else's bikes) you usually get a good feel of what you like/dislike.

Whatever you look at, check it out carefully.
