Chain Wear On Top Of The Swingarm On A 1974 Ty250

Featured Replies

I'm finishing my restoration on my 250 and noticed that there is no plastic guide or wear block on top of the swing arm like there are in the later models. Anyone come up with an alternate solution to prevent the chain from hitting the top of the swing arm?

I used a suitable thickness of rubber cut in to a strip, wrapped it round the pivot then used a tie wrap to hold the two long ends of the U to the arm.  That lasted well enough.

Use swingarm protector from TY175 with a little work it can be made to fit part is easy to get.

I use them on my 250's being quite a soft compound they do wear out quite quickly though.
