September 29, 201510 yr Hello! I´m about to buy an Oset for myself (and my son off course) and would like someone to measure the motor - diameter and length. The reason is that I want to put in a brushless motor if there is space enough (with some mods). I´m a bit allergic to DC motors... As I have seen there is room for a bit bigger diameter than stock motor but the length is limited between the swingarm.
September 29, 201510 yr have you got a like to the motor you wish to fit ?.. or the dims and I could tell you if it will or not or if it will be worth it.
September 29, 201510 yr Author I have a BHT "Big Block" = Length 114mm, Dia 137mm but might go for a smaller motor or modify swingarm if neccesary.
September 29, 201510 yr the big block is a good choice ... but I dont think it will fit without some major modding.. standard motor length is about the same but the diameter is only approx 110mm and I think if you go for the standard BHT motor it will not pack such a punch as the standard oset motor/controller.
September 29, 201510 yr Author Alright! Thanks for the info. Yes the Big Block is mighty! I have it in a minimoto at the moment, big power at 72v! I´m more concerned by the length, you would´t mind measuring if you have a motor? I think it´s possible to lower the motor a bit due to different diameters(?)

September 29, 201510 yr Motor body Dia is 107 mm, overall length approx 137 as it is 139 between the swing arms. The major part of the motor measures 105 mms between the mounting plates, the rest up to 137 is a 12 mm expansion on the left side for the bearings at the brush end and i suppose the right side (sprocket) expands approx 137-12-105=20 mms, holding screw for the sprocket included. All these measurements done now on my 2012 bike but suppose its still the same for a new bike. It looks easy to shave the mounting plates off with a angle grinder and then you have a rear swing gap of 139 mms to fill with what motor you like. (btw: the rear swing can also be divided as standard). Not sure if this makes any sense, but hope it helps;-)
September 29, 201510 yr Author Yes, that makes sense! Exactly what I was searching for, thanks! Just arrived from the first test with Kelly 72v 80A controller tuned down to 70% on the minimoto, completely evil torque! Would suite an Oset quite nice I guess.. ☺
