October 2, 201510 yr I've just reassembled my clutch as it was before I taken it off, what I noticed is that the last plate is seated 1 notch over, so I.e not inline with the others. Is this correct? Also I have reassembled it dry and filled back up with oil, am I at risk of damaging the clutch on first use? Thanks in advance.
October 3, 201510 yr Outside plate being twisted around from the others is normal, if you've let the clutch sit for a bit when you added the oil there shouldn't be a problem especially if you turn the motor over occasionally
October 4, 201510 yr The 2000 2.9 I had, the last plate was installed one notch over. When I started having issues with the clutch slipping I installed the last plate in line with the rest of them and then the slipping went away. I believe the offset is done to warn the owner when the clutch plates are worn and need replacement.............I am super cheap so I opten to get a little more life out of them.
October 4, 201510 yr Author Haha, same zippy. I did the beta clutch fix and the bike is PROPER good, the downloadable pdf is amazing.
