February 19, 201610 yr Help!!! I'm in the process of rebuilding the front wheel and am having problems respoking. I've done all of the inners and one set of the outers but the last set don't line up with the rim, they sit about an inch away from the rim. This is the side opposite the brake side. Can anyone explain where I've gone wrong? The only explanation I can think is that there is an offset, but there didn't seem to be one when I stripped the wheel. Cheers in anticipation, Nigel.
February 19, 201610 yr I only very occasionally rebuild wheels. I always number the spoke holes both in the hub and rim so I can't get it wrong. Sounds like you have got a set of spokes 2 holes out on the hub. I suggest you try to find another MAR wheel to look at or perhaps one of the forums MAR owners can post a large scale photo.
February 19, 201610 yr Author Thanks. This is the first set of wheels that I've built, well tried to build! There's one for sale on eBay, I'll have a close look and see where I've gone wrong. I'll post a picture if and when I've got it right!! Cheers dadof2.
February 20, 201610 yr Spokes are done in patterns of four. Start with the tube hole. Using zip ties can help hold them on place. Slow and easy.
February 23, 201610 yr Author Cheers all, hopefully sorted now.....I'm letting Paul from Sids wheels have them. He can probably do them with his eyes shut and one hand tied behind his back quicker than I could ?
