May 7, 201610 yr Hi Mark. I don`t think there is a difference. There might be minor porting differences but it is only very minor. They both used the same exhausts and carbs with the same jetting and the same airfilter and the same ignition timing. Graham.
May 8, 201610 yr I thought the head to barrel interface was different? One has stepped spigot type from memory
May 9, 201610 yr No it is the earlier ones that have the liner above the barrel. My M151 engine is like that. I have a M199 apart at the moment and it has a copper gasket the same as a M199A.
May 10, 201610 yr A lot think all the Exhausts are the same but there not I bought a 199A Exhaust so I was led to believe although it did fit is was sitting to high and was nearly touching the tank. Turned out the Exhaust was for a 159 Edited May 10, 201610 yr by bondy
