May 17, 201610 yr After almost 2 1/2 years rebuilding my '75 mar I'm almost nearing completion!! The spark plug in the bike is a Champion RN7YC and a NGK 6 ES came as a spare. What is the recommended (best) plug to put in? Now for the really stupid question.....how many gears should there be? I'm more used to jap and Brit bikes, well that's my excuse! Oh, and which way do they shift, 1st up or down? Cheers in advance.
May 18, 201610 yr No not at all, the NGK you have should be ok I am unfamiliar with the Champion codes so do not know how that compares. Good luck with the start up.
May 18, 201610 yr Author I'm dreading it!! Need to fill up with oil first and hope there aren't any leaks. And fit a new chain, new cables and a seat cover. So not long now!
May 20, 201610 yr If your clutch is stuck (pretty common)- tie the lever to the bar and let it sit. If that doesn't work, then start the bike and warm it up- then hold the clutch in, push the bike a bit so you can slide it I to gear. Go about 10mph and stomp on the brakes, while holding in the clutch.
