Greetings All,

I'm a Brit living in France near to Niort in the Deux Sevres (not far from La Rochelle). I've been away from biking for 25 years, as you do, and got back into this year with a BMW 1150RT and a Yamaha WR250F. I've just come back from a dirt ride adventure around Kazakhstan, which was awesome. I used to have a Fantic 200 and did some competition but wasn't any good - I once got my bike stuck high up in  a tree! Lured by the name again, I bought a 1997 Fantic 250, which has turned out to be tired and used and costing to get it running properly but I am learning more about mechanics which is what I wanted. So, I am hoping for some advice and company on here.

Cheers.

Kev.

excellent!

I've just decided to try this again after 20 years, although I'll probably be headed in a more vintage direction.

I'm supremely jealous of your bike adventure. I've been a little obsessed with the idea since that Ewan MacGregor series ran...

anyway, cool bike. Hopefully you won't have to learn too much to get it into the woods.

Hi contiki

I'd always wanted to go on a dirt bike trip and, like you, that was fuelled by the Long Way Round. Kazakhstan was truly excellent and will be a great memory. A bit of a steep learning curve but has also given me the bug and I'm going to look for more adventures.

I think getting the Fantic right will be a steep learning curve!

Have a look at Trial MCA 16, a good trials club both modern and classic that have their own practise ground  just north of Anglouleme.  Couple of Brits ride there and the ground is open to ride most Sundays.

Hope that helps

Back to the pool while the sun lasts... from a bit further south

Good luck and try and get another 200

Metiisse, you star! I've been looking for a club and somewhere to ride, thanks.
