September 28, 20169 yr Hi my 2011 Sherco 290 fan is screaming like crazy at the minute does anyone know where I could get a motor for it, as my dealer is quoting me £30. I was also wondering if any of you could tell me weather I would have to take the whole radiator out or not to do this. As I took the rubber cap of the back of the fan which wasn't glued and I can see the motor which has got two wires connected to it. If I disconnect the wires should the motor just slide out. Any advice would be appreciated as I have never done this before. Many thanks Dw
September 28, 20169 yr Try a squirt of wd40 or gt85 first if successful lubricate the dry bearing/shaft properly it may save you £30 got to be worth a try good luck
September 29, 20169 yr Author £30 too much? Try a Pound Shop or what about an Oxfam shop? I am just trying to see if i could get it cheaper as my bike currently needs a lot done to it. So i can spend the money i am saving on other things i need for the bike.
September 29, 20169 yr £30 is cheap, Gat Gas are £90!!!!, Beta at about £125!!! Sherco are the best priced parts compared to the other brands!!!
September 30, 20169 yr I know computer guys who have used fan motors from IT equipment on various vehicle cooling applications. Apparently the (entirely unnecessary in the UK) Mini oil cooler motor is very badly placed and gets a lot of dirt thrown at it. Edited September 30, 20169 yr by 2stroke4stroke
October 2, 20169 yr I have the same bike and I periodically spray the fan motor with silicone spray.(once or twice a season) I've kept the fan going for two or three years that way. Good luck!
