October 21, 20169 yr Does anyone make modern footpegs that will fit a TY 175 that the kicker won't hit? Thanks Much!
October 21, 20169 yr i was thinking about this as well. I'm tempted to grind that little spur off, so the peg can swing all the way up. It's seems to flop down at exactly the wrong moment. Edited October 21, 20169 yr by contiki
October 22, 20169 yr If you measure up a set of modern footpegs you will see that there is not enough space to fit them between the bike frame and the kickstart lever. Options for using modern pegs include: A device/method (locking pin, wire hook) that holds the peg up while you kick (popular) Lift the peg to let the kick lever go past it, kick start the motor, then let the lever retract past the peg. If you have a suitably light return spring on the peg this works fine. The kickstart doesn't engage until it is at peg level anyway (popular) Don't use a RH footpeg spring and keep the pivot action free. The peg will stay up if you lean the bike a bit too the left as you kick (popular but not legal in some places that require spring-return pegs) Reshape the kickstart lever to clear the peg end (not recommended due to the kickstart lever knuckle already being a bit flimsy and this method puts extra load on the knuckle)
October 22, 20169 yr Yes, there is a kit on the market and very good it is, have it fitted on my sons TY. It is the chap who makes the 220 Yamaha conversions that Mick Andrews rode and tested in CDB magazine.
October 22, 20169 yr Colin at TYOffroad makes and sells the kit you need which keeps the footrest clear of the kickstart. It was his bike that was featured in CDB with Mick doing the test http://www.tyoffroad.co.uk/store/p34/FOOTREST_LOWERING_KIT_%28BOLT-ON%29_TO_FIT_YAMAHA_TY175._.html
October 22, 20169 yr that site is fantastic. if shipping isn't too crazy, there are a bunch of things I could use. thanks
November 17, 20169 yr I have the TY Off Road ones on mine. They work well. You have to mod the frame to fit them but worth the effort.
