TL125 Speedo parts troubles

Featured Replies

Dear All, I am towards the end of a rebuild of an old TL125 getting it ready for road registering and an MOT. Ive managed to scour the web for most of the parts needed, but i'm struggling with getting the speedo running gear that goes in the front hub. The bike was never on the road previously, so there is a plug where the speedo cable screws into the hub, and no worm gear that drives the cable (see photos). I've looked at the original parts drawings, and the hub comes as one unit, so I can get hold of the parts separately I need. Also i've had no joy in the second hand market for a front hub of a TL125. Does anyone know if the 1976 TL125 shares front hubs with other models?, which I could look out for, or any other suggestions most welcome. Thanks all, Paul

I know you may want to fix but it's not needed for an MOT so no need to delay...... 99% of trials bike don't even have a speedo and it's not part of the MOT test.

Hook it up till you find the parts. It`s not like they will ride your bike.

Cheers, i think i will, as apparently i don't need one anyway for the UK MOT testing, happy days

If you're desperate to put a speedo on, you could always fit a digital bicycle computer.

Honda mtx 125/200 looks the same

The brake panel was first introduced on the TL125 based on the p/n  45010-355-670 '355' being the Honda product code for the TL125. According to the US parts fiche the panel is not used on anything else.

The '74 SL125 panel will likely fit but the brake cable comes in from the rear of the hub and the brake arm is down. The speedo guts will likely fit.

The MTX is a leading axle fork where the TL125 is not, so the fork lock pocket is at a different position. It will likely fit but your cable will not align correctly.

There are several TL125 front brake panels currently on ebay in the US.

I have an SL (I think) brake plate but it only has the small worm gear with it, you can have if you want it

Hi, that would be great, if ti has the worm gear, that's one less part i'm needing, and I can measure up the plate to see if the gear that drives it would also be the same and look out for the SL one either, I'll happily pay for the postage up to Scotland, my tel is 07747644186, if you want to text and i can send my address and send down postage cots to you too, thanks

Hi again, i had an easier idea, if you are ok to send me your address, i can post down a prepaid jiffy bag for the brake plate. cheers, Paul
