March 13, 20188 yr I've got a dt250 piston for my ty! New rings arrived, in box with rings is a thin 50pence shaped ring! Can anyone tell me where it goes?
March 13, 20188 yr Could be a supply error, sounds like you have received 4-stroke piston rings (XT 250) and the expander(50 pence shape-ish) ring is supposed to go behind oil control ring. I could well be wrong ?. GDT and TY OE rings must butt up against the ring locator pegs in the grooves.
March 13, 20188 yr Its an expander ring, pretty common in 2 strokes, especially yamaha. Most people leave them out, however if you want to fit it it goes behind the lower ring Edited March 13, 20188 yr by faussy
March 14, 20188 yr The rings that came with my TY piston are the same, goes behind the lower ring to help give more sealing pressure
March 14, 20188 yr Author I installed new rings last night, with expansion ring under lower ring. Give her a run tonight ??
