New to here and New build 199A

Featured Replies

Hi guys n gals, almost finished a dry build on my 350 and found the clutch very hard and like a switch, guess it's plates and springs. Any recommendations. Thanks Al

Wanted to show a photo. Can't see how too though.

Cable routing important, fewer bends (and cable tries) the better.

Rod that passes through gearbox checked to be straight ?

Longer clutch arm. Mechanism not worn and well lubed.

Choice of oil in clutch will affect feel.

Other things to look at are to make sure the clutch cam is clean and well greased and to make sure the pushrod is very clean and oiled. Also make sure the flat needle bearing which sits against the tophat inside the clutch has some grease on it too. Also use a Venhil cable and good levers. The standard Amal levers have a very good leverage ratio. All of those small things really do add up.

Thank you for your help, I have just fitted a new clutch, all of your suggestions I have done, and now have a very useable clutch, so much lighter and its not a switch now! Thank you for your advice. Thanks Al
